What to Expect on Move-In Day

All residents are required to register for a move-in time slot through StarRez. Time slots will become available to book in the Portal in early August. Move-in time slots help create a smooth arrival experience by reducing wait times for unloading belongings and checking in.
Once you have selected your time slot, we ask that you arrive during your scheduled time. If an emergency or unavoidable circumstance arises, you may cancel and rebook your time slot.
On your move-in date, you will arrive at the front entrance of our building to check in.
Please ensure that you bring photo identification with you as you will need this to collect your keys.
Helpers
We recommend bringing no more than two (2) helpers to assist with your move-in.
Residence staff are unable to assist with unloading or moving personal belongings. If additional assistance is required, please arrange for family, friends, or a professional moving service.
Moving Carts
Moving carts will be available to help you transport your belongings during move-in.
Please return carts to their designated location once you have finished unloading, so they are available for other residents.
During the move-in period, there are temporary changes to our standard guest policy:
- Day guests are not required to sign in during official move-in days
- No overnight guests permitted during move-in weekend (August 29 and 30) at Chestnut Residence only
Overnight and day guests are permitted at all residences starting August 31. Normal guest policy applies as per the Community Standards. Guest sign in is required for Oak House and Chestnut Residence.
Can overnight guests stay during Orientation Week?
Orientation Week is an important part of move in. Taking part can help you make friends, get to know your community, and settle into residence more quickly. The connections you make during your first few days can help create a positive and rewarding residence experience throughout the year.
To help everyone adjust to shared living, we recommend waiting until after your first week in residence before inviting overnight guests.
This gives everyone a chance to get to know their roommates and settle into residence life.
If you do choose to host an overnight guest during the move-in period, please:
- Let your roommate or suitemates know in advance.
- Make sure your guest sleeps only in your assigned room.
